Fairfield Intermediate

It's been great to be out in schools talking to and working with teachers about learning. It was also fun talking to my ex students and seeing what they are up to now at Intermediate. There are several digital classrooms here which parents pay for and the students are exposed to a large range of technologies. Other students in mainstream classes have access to a well equipped computer suite and the Year 8s also spend about 8 weeks in a digital classroom. They are beginning to install interactive white boards in a few mainstream rooms.

One class's theme was Nazi Germany and we discussed similarities with Darfur. I was able to lead the teacher towards features in Google Earth and other online activities that highlight the plight of the people there. It will be interesting to go back and see where they have taken this.
